Obituary of Eugene Brunn

BRUNN, EUGENE H. (Gene) age 72 of Woodbury passed away unexpectedly October 3, 2018. Survived by wife, Sally of 44 years, "I always told Gene that he was too nice to be a man! We loved having coffee on the deck of the Wabeno, WI cabin. We even had a chipmunk visitor we named Chippee. He would come begging for crumbs and Gene complied. One day when Gene was caught napping, Chippee jumped onto his lap. Gene woke up with a start and Chippee rocketed into space, never to be seen again.”; daughter, Natalie, "I loved how Dad was always willing to help me. Whether it was cutting my grass, letting my dogs out or giving me a ride somewhere. I also remember our many family road trips. One time traveling in a van through the Dakotas, brother Dan ripped one and Dad screamed, “I can't see, I can't see!"; and son Dan (Tamra), "What a great dad. Every time he came to our house to help with projects we always gave him the most tedious, ugly job because he would spend hours getting it perfect.”; grandsons: Carson, "I loved going on adventures with him and trout fishing. I am happy now that Papa can see us all the time wherever we are.”; and Collin and Cooper: "We Loved crawling on the floor with Papa or playing trains or playing ball or having him chase us." All the above live in Minnesota. Born in Menomonie he is also survived by father, Harlan and siblings: Becky Quilling (Pete), "Big brother, Eugene always liked tools, once when I was little, he tried to pound a nail in my head. He learned the trick from his friend, who tried it on his sister. It didn't work."; Terry Smith (Heather), and brother-in-law, Roger Bailey all in Wisconsin. Preceded in death by mother, Shirley, sisters: Tricia Bailey and Jessica Montoya (Rudy) and step-mother, Carolyn. Gene's perfectionism was evident in his home landscaping. Neighbors Randy and Janel Carmody remember, "We always enjoyed looking out our window at your house and landscaping. . . we always knew when it was time to trim our shrubs as Gene was always on top of that." Gene spent 30 years at Infinite Graphics in Minneapolis, where he was known for his detailed and friendly customer service. Gene enjoyed family, friends, hiking, road trips, and ice cream. In lieu of flowers memorials will be appreciated and directed to Cedars Camps, Lebanon MO, and to the Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction, AZ. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one-hour prior at Hosanna 9600 163rd Street West, Lakeville, Minnesota 55044.
