Obituary of Sharon Renee Johnson
Sharon Renee Smith' Johnson died peacefully Sunday September 30 at Solvay Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Cloquet, Minnesota and lived in Duluth since 1972.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and was known as "The Queen of Practical". Sharon always had time to listen, always put other's needs before her own and never turned away a guest for dinner. Nothing outmatched the love and guidance she gave to her family consistently and without judgement.
She worked for the State of Minnesota Vocational Rehabilitation Division for 30 years and truly loved her job.
She was also very proud to be a registered member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and continued to volunteer on the Fond-Du-Lac reservation long after retirement.
Sharon was a life-long learner and at the age of 60 achieved her goal of earning a Master's of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Minnesota State University at Mankato. I n her graduation speech to her class, she made this poignant statement: "I stand before you as proof that you can do anything you set your mind to, that what you accomplish matters so much more than when you accomplish it. That all of life is a fascinating and unpredictable road that we travel."
Sharon will be dearly missed but her love of family, friends, shared experiences and hard work will live on in our hearts, our memories, and the lives that we live.
Her family would like to to extend a special thank you to Dr Anne Skadberg, Dr Randall Millikin, and all of the nurses and staff at Solvay Hospice House.
At Sharon's request, the family will hold a celebration of life in the near future.
