Obituary of Gary L. Johnson

Gary L. Johnson, 69, of Saginaw, died in his home on Sunday, September 30, 2018. He was born June 5, 1949 in Pipestone, MN, to Ivan and Florene (Bonamie) Johnson.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson, Garrett Olsen. He is survived by his daughters, Carissa (Brian) Hakanson and Jennifer (Chad) Olsen; brothers, Steven (Dixie) and Richard (Susan); sisters, Barbara (John) Hussey, and Susan Johnson; grandchildren, Gabrielle Johnson, Edward and Sophia Hakanson, and Henry Olsen; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gary worked as the Shop Foreman at Monson Trucking for 30 years before his retirement. Prior to Monson, he co-owned Johnson Brother's Skelly Station with his brother Rick, in West Duluth.

Gary was a proud Proctor Rail (class of 1967) where he played football and baseball. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He loved fishing and hunting white tail deer. He was a man who could build anything, fix anything and tell the best stories. He loved to spend time with family and friends telling tales of the big one and of the one that got away. He also loved to recount his many close calls and wild, crazy adventures.
