Obituary of Eula Margaret Stevenson
Eula Margaret Stevenson, 85, of Duluth, passed away on October 3, 2018 near the shore of Lake Superior at her Ecumen Lakeshore apartment.
Eula was born January 14, 1933 in Sioux City, IA and lived in Akron, IA through high school. In 1954, Eula graduated from Hamline University School of Nursing. She worked at Midway Hospital in Saint Paul, MN and other hospitals as a nurse anesthetist. Eula married Philip Stevenson on June 10, 1960. They moved to Hermantown in 1967 where she assisted Philip as he established the Miller Trunk Veterinary Clinic. When her sons were grown, Eula returned to nursing and worked as a RN Supervisor at Nopeming Nursing Home.
Eula was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed attending operas, traveling, paddling the BWCAW and providing service to her family, church and community. During her many canoe trips to the border country of Minnesota and Canada, she completed the route from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods.
Eula was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Christine (Seitz) Marineau ; her husband Philip; and brother, Fred.
Eula is survived by her sister Marian Ernst of Denver, CO; children Myron (Shawna) of Duluth, Nathan (Kathy) of Hermantown and Brian (Laurie) of Apple Valley, MN; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 A.M Tuesday, October 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 521 Upham Rd in Duluth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Foundation (www.slduluth.com/foundation.aspx) or donor's choice.
