Terry Tobey

Obituary of Terry Tobey

We want to tell you a story about our Daddy, Terry Tobey. He was born in Clinton, Iowa on February 10, 1946 to Howard and Edna Tobey. He grew up on a farm along with his sister Thera and brother Bud (Leon) Tobey. He went to college in Cedar Falls majoring in History and then on to the University of Northern Iowa getting his Masters in Special Education. He then moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota where Dad met our mom, Mary. They fell in love and got married on May 10, 1980. Then our journey began, because our Dad and Mom wanted to adopt three special girls with Down Syndrome. First came Noelle, then Jesse and Becky; then our family was complete. Our Daddy's job took us on adventures to the Forest History Center and then to Split Rock Lighthouse. After Daddy retired, he was sick a lot, so we moved to Duluth. It always made him feel better to be able to sit and cuddle with us, look out our windows at Lake Superior, and to see all the deer and wildlife in our yard. Our Daddy got his angel wings on September 24, 2018, and we miss him very much. Because of his big heart for his family, relatives, friends, co-workers, and the wonderful students of St. Scholastica's OT program, our family will keep on growing. We are going to have a celebration of life party on Sunday October 28, 2018, at the Duluth Heights Community Center from noon to 4 pm. Please come and share your memories and stories about our Daddy. In our hearts we will always know that Daddy's best job was being our Daddy. Love: Noelle, Jesse, and Becky
