Obituary of Joan Beatty Broadston

Broadston, Joan "Jo" Jo Broadston was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 9, 1926 to Lester and Violet Daniels. Jo passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at her residence in Edina, MN at age 92. Jo and her husband George, were proud parents of 4 children, Georgene, Julie, Lisa, and Lee. Jo was a proud Grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Larisha, Emily, Jayna, Kristina, Michael, Alex, and Joseph. Jo was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Owen, Brianna, Austin, Grayson, and Mila. Jo loved to spend time at her summer home in northwest MN fishing, boating, gardening, hunting, and motorcycle riding. During the winter she was also known to be seen on the local ski slopes downhill skiing. Jo was a fulltime mother who was very active in her children's activities in and out of school but also was a Presidential Award winning Avon representative for more than 10 years. Throughout Jo's life she loved artistry of many forms. She was an accomplished watercolor and oil paint artist, displaying her talents throughout her home and apartment. Jo was able to exhibit her artwork in many public places and galleries and created several annual calendars and Christmas cards. In 2012, Jo moved to the senior community of York Gardens in Edina, MN where she shared her gift for lively conversation, colorful artistry, and her love of flowers and animals with all. Jo was well known to engage staff in lively and (sometimes controversial) conversation. Jo and her family wish to acknowledge the outstanding love and support throughout the years from all who assisted her at York Gardens and staff of Fairview Hospice. All are welcome to participate in a memorial of Jo's life hosted by her family on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the MN Cremation Society Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue, Edina, MN during the hours of 10-12 noon.
