Obituary of Robert Vanatta

Age 93 of Bloomington, MN passed away August 21, 2018. Born in Barberton, OH. Van was loved by his family and friends. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after enjoying chocolate ice cream the evening before. Van was a US Air Force veteran, graduate of Univetsity of Illinois and a worked as a meteorologist for Northwest Orient Airlines from his time in the service until retirement. He enjoyed playing competitive chess, checkers and backgammon along with hiking and cross country sking. An avid reader himself, in his retirement years, Van volunteered at the local library.

Preceded in death by wife, M. Elizabeth, parents, Ralph and Geneva (Stevens), and sons Jack and Jay. Survived by daughter-in-law, Julia (Jack) Vanatta; special friend, Jack (Jay) Bowdan; granddaughter, Charlotte (Terry) Pilling; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial Service Saturday, September 29, 10:00 am at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, 2200 West Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington. Visitation half hour before service. Memorials preferred to Oak Grove Church or charity of your choice.
