Obituary of Judith Anne Jonasen

Judith Anne (Frank) Jonasen departed for her heavenly home on Friday September 21st, 2018 after a courageous & determined battle with lung cancer. She was born on March 5th, 1944 in Duluth, MN to Leonard & Anne Frank. Judy was a caring and compassionate LPN early in her career. She later learned sign language and became an interpreter for the deaf in the Duluth/ Superior Public School Systems. During this time she also supervised the evening programs for Duluth Community Education. Judy also managed to find time to be an excellent landlord. After retirement she learned Tai Chi, yoga, the piano, face painting & making balloon animals. She had a love for music which she instilled in her husband, children and grandchildren. Judy was very happy working, planting and weeding her beautiful flower gardens. She loved the outdoors, going 4 wheeling, fishing, walking in the area parks with her dog, and was willing to help whenever and wherever possible. Family was the most important thing in her life and she was constantly there encouraging them and loving them unconditionally, she would do anything she could to help someone out.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Diane Bechtel, and a daughter Jill Hunker.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom Jonasen; three sons, John Hunker III of South Range WI, Jeff (Amanda) Hunker of Solon Springs WI, Justen (Jana) Jonasen of Rosemount MN; and by one daughter Julianne (Ryan) Stariha of Superior WI. Judy was blessed with ten grandchildren: Paige, Olivia, Austin, Logen and Cody Hunker; Gabe and Connor Jonasen; and London, Bristol and Baylee Stariha; and brother, David (Jean) Frank of Superior, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Judy's celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 29th, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church of Duluth at 300 E. 2nd St Duluth MN. Visitation will be from noon until the 1pm service.

The Cremation Society of MN is assisting the family with the arrangements.
