Obituary of Peter Joseph Sheehan
Peter Joseph Sheehan, aged 82. Passed peacefully in the early morning September 14th in the company of family. Peter was a lifelong Minneapolis resident and Southwest High School graduate and athlete. Peter traveled the world but was happily grounded in his home neighborhood. His honest engaging personality earned him many lifelong friendships, and his loving spirit nurtured and empowered his family. While Pete bravely endured a terminal illness, his thoughts and actions continued to reflect his concern for the well-being of others. Pete pursued many eclectic and unconventional interests and collections. Pete chronicled his life in imaginative illustrated journals that will pass down his wisdom and humor. Pete had a successful career but didn't pursue wealth. He preferred instead to pursue his interests, accumulate knowledge and experiences, and enjoy the company of friends. Pete was truly unique and often searched for the poetic meaning of things and always provided empathy and support for others. Being a vibrant, opinionated, exuberant humorist, he was always welcomed into any conversation. His travels were widespread but often divergent, leading others to appreciate rare and offbeat interests.Pete enjoyed golden age comics, Naples Florida, Elks Club, Minnehaha, science fiction, Mule Lake, the JCC, '67 San Francisco, Lake Harriet, Pynchon, the Black Hills, Van Morrison, Dylan, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. And Pete loved Gladys, Steve, Lynn, Nicholas, Jane, Jan and many many others, who will greatly miss him. Memorial Services will be held in October with details in a forthcoming announcement.
