Obituary of Robert J. Johnson

Robert J. Johnson, age 97, of Minneapolis joined his wife, Gladys, in heaven on August 21, 2018. Robert is lovingly remembered by his children; Robertaann (Bruce), Mark, Craig (Mary), Kent (Candace), his 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one granddaughter (Evelyn) who preceded him to heaven. Robert moved from his family's farm in Milaca to Minneapolis at a young age. He soon found the love of his life, Gladys Niemczycki and married in 1943. Following his military service in WWII, Robert became a devoted husband, an amazing father, and a compassionate grandfather. He enjoyed a long and successful career in real estate and construction. Robert loved to tell a story as well as listen to one. His passion was dancing with Gladys and they were frequent patrons of Twin Cities ballrooms. Robert had a wonderful ability to make everyone around him feel important and will be missed beyond what words can express. A private service will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery on Friday, September 28th with a Celebration of Life to follow. Memorial donations in memory of Robert can be made to Fisher House.
