Obituary of Dale Allen Hanley
Born in North Freedom, WI to Howard and Edna Hanley, Dale spent his youth in the Baraboo area working on his family’s farm. He joined the USMC in 1957 and served honorably, including two tours in Vietnam, until 1972. He achieved the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He married the love of his life, Karen in 1969. In 1982, he founded the non-profit MN Won’t Forget POW/MIA, an organization dedicated to honoring American service members recognized as POW/MIA. His tireless dedication to the service members, their families, and his fellow Veterans, changed many lives. Including that of his own family who worked alongside of him. He is survived by his brother Phil (Betty); daughters Vicky (AJ), Rhonda (Paul), Tawny, and Kate (Chris); granddaughters Brittany, Kaillan, Rachael, and Taylor; great-grandchildren Anna, Olivia, and Sam; nieces, nephews and many friends. The family is eternally grateful to his nurses Jean and Jody who made him feel comfortable, loved, and cared for. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina.
