Obituary of David J. Gothmann

David Gothmann, age 64, of Waconia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Saturday January 13, 2018 at Ridgeview Medical Center. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Friday January 26, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Community (41 East 1st Street) in Waconia, with Fr. Bennet Tran as Celebrant of Mass. Gathering of family and friends beginning at 9:30am until time of Mass. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Following the service there will be a celebration of life held at the Waconia VFW (125 West 1st Street) Waconia MN 55387. David was born on September 14, 1953 in Watertown MN to John and Doris (Wagener) Gothmann. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waconia MN. On November 23, 1974 David was married to Mary Jo Wenzel in Watertown SD. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Shawn, Billy and Jenny. Before his retirement in 2008 David worked for SuperValu as a semi-trailer mechanic for 30 years. Bully loved fishing, spearing, and spending time with his family and friends. Two of his favorite pastimes were riding motorcycles and skydiving. Bully’s number one joy was his eight grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, playing checkers, the clothes pin game, and his hand game. David was preceded in death by his parents John and Doris Gothmann, Brother Bob Gothmann, Father and Mother in law Jack and LaVerne Wenzel. David was survived by his former wife and dear friend Mary Jo Gothmann, Children and spouses Shawn (Bobbie) Gothmann of Waconia, Billy (Holly) Gothmann of Waconia, and daughter Jennifer Gothmann of Eden Prairie. Grandchildren Tyson, Jaden, Leah, Kylee, Johnny, Jacky, McKenzie, and Jaelyn Gothmann. Brothers and Sisters Carol (Ron) Lindner of Mayer, Judy (Mark) Precht of Waconia, Mike Gothmann of Waconia, Rosie (Dan) Ratigan of Lander WY, John Gothmann of Waconia, Patti (Paul) Higgins of Waconia. Nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. As Bully would always say “May God take a likin’ to ya”
