Obituary of MaryElaine A. Seppo

MaryElaine A. Seppo, 66, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away on January 19, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN, with her husband and soul mate by her side. She was born in St. Mary’s, PA on December 31, 1951. MaryElaine was preceded in death by her father, Michael J. Puleo and brother, Joseph M. Puleo of Utica, NY. She was raised and educated in Utica, attended St. Anthony of Padua Grammar School and was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School, Class of 1969. MaryElaine furthered her studies in Syracuse, NY where she earned her certifications in Dental Assisting. MaryElaine started her working career as a Dental Assistant to the late Dr. Sidney Slavin, DDS of Utica, NY. She moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 1976 where she worked as a Certified Registered Dental Assistant for 33 years for Dr. Gordon Amundson, DDS, Dr. Pravin Aturaliya, DDS, Dr. John Wainio, DDS and Dr. Adam Huneke, DDS. She was also a member of the American Dental Association and was a past officer of the Head of the Lakes Society. MaryElaine was a talented crafter and scrap-booker. However, her love laid in knitting and crocheting and she was especially noted for her “angel” dish clothes. She was full of life and a kid at heart, always surprising someone with her squirt gun spray, a funny song or saying. MaryElaine is survived by her husband and true love of 28 years, Mathew M. Seppo of Duluth, MN; her mother, Anne Puleo; her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and David Critelli, Phyllis and Steven Madrak; her nephew, Michael Critelli all of Utica, NY; two nieces, Dr. Kristen Critelli of Pittsburgh, PA and Lauren Critelli of Arlington, VA; and many close relatives and friends both in New York and in Minnesota. MaryElaine has left us but never to be forgotten. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Her Life at 11 am in the Cathedral of Christ the King Church on Belknap Avenue in Superior, WI. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Dr. Homam Alkaied and all the staff in St. Luke’s Cancer Center and Infusion Therapy of Duluth. In lieu of flowers and in MaryElaine's memory, donations may be made to The Cathedral of Christ the King Church.
