Obituary of Mary Helen Hill

Mary Helen (Gallegos) Hill born 9/18/1931, died 1/21/2018 at Franciscan Health Center of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Mary was born in Arboles, CO. and grew up in Durango, CO, graduating from Durango High School in 1950. She joined the WACS and was assigned to the Pentagon motor pool where she worked until she married Richard Wallack. After moving to Duluth in 1966, Mary worked at several businesses as a bookkeeper, most notably with Perkins restaurants. She was an active member of the Harbor Chords Chapter of Sweet Adelines and belonged to two quartets during that time. After living in Florida for a few years she returned to the Duluth area in 2003 after the death of her husband Allan. Mary was preceded in death by infant daughter Joyce Lee Wallack, father Jose "Ray" Gallegos, brother Reynaldo "Rey" Gallegos, sister Lena Gallegos Copeland, ex-husband Richard Wallack, husbands Franklin B. Morgan and Allan A. Hill. Mary is survived by her children: Diane (Wayne) Sell of The Villages, FL; Patti (Dale) Hamm of Kansas City, MO, James (Denise) Wallack of St. Paul, MN; Eileen (Frank) Dusek of Hermantown, MN and Sandra (Jon) Knott of Rosemount, MN; Stepchildren: Fred, Chuck, Patty, Larry and Diane. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Isabel (Richard) Gardunio of Vacaville, CA; Esther Olguin of Northglenn, CO. and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista, Franciscan Health Center and Essentia Health Hospice for their care. Per Mary's wishes, no memorial service will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials to Essentia Health Hospice, Duluth, MN.
