Obituary of Kenneth Charles McArthur

Kenneth Charles McArthur, Sr. passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4 one week short of his 101st birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Zibell) McArthur, in 2006. He is survived by his children: Kenneth C McArthur, Jr (Kaye), Dana Lacina (Dennis), Kimbra Green (Randy), Lori Starbird (Jeff); 11 grandchildren: Matthew McArthur, Kimbra Wellnitz (Scott), Jason Lacina (Danielle), Kirsten Ferraro; Melissa Schuldt (Matt), Corey Lacina (Paige), Krissan Rollings (Jeff), Nicole Fox, Dustin Lacina (Amber), Lindsay Starbird, Willie Starbird; 16 great-grandchildren: Breckin, Ryker, Phoebi Wellnitz; Halle, Aiden, Liam, Ivy Rollings; Kyle McArthur; Gabby, Sam Schuldt; Hunter, Stella Fox; Carson Lacina; Fallon, River, Felix Lacina. A lifelong dog lover, Ken leaves his Sheltie Kato in the care of his daughter Lori. Ken served in World War II as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and participated in the Omaha Beach landing. He held senior sales positions with such companies as Pillsbury Foods and launched entrepreneurial efforts in the frozen foods industry. At a time when most businessmen his age were retiring, Ken accepted a position with Glenbeigh Rehabilitation Hospitals as Executive Director in Cleveland and Tampa, eventually retiring back to Minnetonka to be near family. At the time of Ken's death he was living at Summerwood Terrace Apartments in Chanhassen where he had been a charter resident since 2005. Ken and Kato leave behind many dear friends in the Summerwood Community. A Life Celebration and Service will be held at a later date.
