Obituary of Theodore John Burlingame
BURLINGAME, Theodore John, 86, passed away February 8, 2018 after a struggle with bone marrow cancer and acute leukemia. Waiting for him in heaven will be his parents, Ted and Frances. His first love, Margaret (wife of 40 years), with whom he raised a family, started a business, traveled and went on many camping adventures. His granddaughter, Kathleen and daughter in-law, Lori will also be waiting for him. Ted was lucky enough to have a second great love, Cookie (wife of 23 years). Their adventures included building houses, traveling and enjoying Texas life. Ted also leaves behind children Patricia (Chris) Meehl, Pamela (Doug) Wild, Michael (Fiancee, Bobbie) Burlingame and Lisa (Andy) Hockert; step-children, Timothy (Mary) Temple, Mark Temple, Jeffery (Bonnie) Temple, Gregory (Kelly) Temple and Penny Jo (Doyal) Johnson; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Ted was a proud Marine, serving as a cook during the Korean War. As a teen he worked at Erickson Gas Stations and after the war he managed several stores for them. He went into business for himself as an independent meat distributor. His favorite saying was, “I get paid for selling bologna.”
He was a member of the Plymouth Masonic Lodge and Zuhrah Shrine. As a Shriner, he played in the Oriental Band and was a founding member of the Steel Drum Band. He will be missed by many for his positive energy and upbeat manner. Celebration of Life 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 23rd at North United Methodist Church, 4350 Fremont Ave. N., Mpls where he had been a member for over 65 years. Visitation at church 1 hour before. Private interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Mpls Women’s Auxiliary at the Shrine Hospital.
