Charles Russell Porter Of Brooklyn Center, MN passed 2/13/18 in Brooklyn Park, MN . Born 1934 in Anoka, MN. He graduated from Anoka High School 1952. Served in the US Army and attended mechanics school. He was honorably discharged because of a heart murmur. He was married June 21, 1959 to the love of his life, Dolly (Lavern) Christensen, Porter. He owned CC alinement in New Ulm, MN until 1965. Member of the machinist union Local 737. 35 year employee of Standard Spring Company, Mpls. Chuck was a mentor who loved to teach about the great outdoors. He belonged to many organizations: Osseo American Legion, MOHA, MOM, Fur Fin and Feathers, North Suburban Deer Hunters assoc., Make a Wish, Plymouth Gun Club, Pheasants Forever, Capable Partners, Osseo Conservation Club, MN, DNR Adult Hunter ed, PERM, MN, State High School Trap Association. Preceded in death by wife, Dolly (Lavern) Christensen, Porter; brother, Robert Porter; sisters, Phyllis (Porter) Charles Smith, Wanda (Porter) Horace Mayo, Carol (Porter) Ellingson; brother in law, Tom Fennell. Survived by daughter, Debra (Mark) McLennan; granddaughters, Brenda (Ray) Helm, Brittany Remer (John Hermes); great grandchildren, Logan and Nona Helm; sister, Lois (Porter) Fennell; brother in law, Robert Christensen, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 18th at 1pm at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Park with a visitation beginning at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers there will be a scholarship fund set up in Chuck’s name if you would like to donate in his honor. To honor Chuck please wear your hunting, fishing, or flannel clothing to the service.
