Obituary of Janice Griffin

Janice Griffin, 76, of Duluth, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2018, surrounded by the family that adored her. Jan was born to Bertha and William Soderlind on January 6, 1942 in Duluth, MN. After graduating from Duluth Central High School and the Duluth Business University she went on to manage Musicland at Shoppers' City and General Nutrition Center at the Miller Hill Mall. Jan married the love of her life, Robert Griffin, on December 19, 1974. Their happiest times were hosting family events and spending the winter months in Biloxi, MS. Jan was very much the matriarch of the family. Her greatest passion was contributing to the lives of her children, grandchildren, and granddogs. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling, having just returned from her 22nd annual trip to Las Vegas with her daughters. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Griffin, and sister Nancy Billings. Jan is survived by her daughters Joan Lipovetz and Jeanne (Ben) Moog, grandchildren Jenna (Cody) Willemarck and Jonathan Lipovetz; brothers Bill (Carol) Soderlind and Donnie (DeAnn) Robinson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN.
