Obituary of Lorne R. Nelson

Nelson, Lorne R. 86, of Eagan passed away peacefully on February 14, 2018, surrounded by family. Lorne was born on January 20, 1932 in Brainerd, MN to Swan Harold Nelson and Josephine Emily Swanson. Preceded in death by wife, Nancy; sisters, Bernice Hanson and Alice Converse; and brother, Dr. Glen H. Nelson. Lorne is survived by his children, Bridget, Stephen (Brenda), Daniel (Eman), Peter (Patty), Thomas (Kathleen) and Michael (Kathy); and stepchildren, Karen Garrett (Brian Winges), Kristina Garrett (Cari Trousdale), and Charles Garrett; numerous grandchildren, a great grandson, nieces, nephews, and Izzy, the cat. Lorne celebrated 47 years of sobriety. He spent many happy years up North at the cabin and in Naples, FL. Lorne served in the U. S. Army. He loved animals. Lorne never lost his quick wit and sense of humor. Memorial service Saturday, February 24, 3:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior, at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at St. Joseph's Hospital and N.C. Little Hospice. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Animal Humane Society, or World Wildlife Fund.
