Obituary of Joyce Lucille Sletten

Joyce Lucille (Hollingsworth) Sletten God has just gotten an amazing Angel... Joyce Lucille (Hollingsworth Sletten) is now walking and talking, singing and dancing with her loved ones in Heaven. Mom was born to Esther and Roy Hollingsworth and grew up in Morgan Park with her sisters Marge and Hazel and her brother Leroy. She was 21 when she joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Pensacola Florida. Mom had a baby boy named Lee whom she lost when he was very young. I'm told Mom cried when she kissed my Dad, Lloyd Sletten but married him anyway in 1951 and had four daughters, Sandra (Tom) Jones, Gail (Mark) Bennett, Joanne (Steve) Anderson, Susan Sletten. Joyce has seven grandchildren, Abraham, Rebecca and Nathaniel Jones, Stephen and Lee James Anderson, Dustin and Aric (Mandy) Toboleski; six great-grandchildren Abigail, Levi, Emanuel, Anthony, Jaylin and Lynnea. Mom didn't have a conventional life and has been living at Viewcrest facility since 1976. She was an exceptional woman who lived her life with faith, grace, dignity and humor, and touched all who came in to her circle of light. Our family sends all of her caretakers through the many years she lived at Viewcrest Healthcare a very heartfelt thanks and our love. They took very good care of our Mom, they loved her and always told her how special she was to them. She was loved by many people and she loved them back. All her nieces and nephews, her sister Hazel Brock and brother-in-law, Arlo Sletten. Gathering of family and friends from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Mar. 10th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
