Obituary of Alice Marie Plath

A resident of Duluth for 57 years, Alice M. Plath Passed away August 30th at Traditions memory care, Owatonna, MN. Born February 1, 1928, she was the first child of John and Marie (Herschbach) Erholtz of Blackberry, MN. After graduating from Grand Rapids High School, she moved to Duluth where she worked at Marshal Wells Hardware and met Carl Plath. They were married November 30, 1946 and raised their five children in their central hillside home, during their 51 years together. An active member of First Methodist church and United Methodist Women (local and state). she was also a PTA president, a Girl scout leader and president of AFS (student foreign exchange program). Very sociable, her home was always a welcoming gathering place for neighbors, family and friends of all ages. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Carl; Step-mother, Genevieve (Herschbach) Erholtz; Sister, Doris Smith & her husband Bill, Brothers; Arvid, David & Jack; Sister; Jane Forneris. She is survived by sisters: Mary Whitesel (Les) Akron ,IN; Judy Childs (Dave), Wasilla, AK; Brother: Terry Erholtz (Claudette) Moorhead, MN: Sisters in laws; Connie, Hillsdale, MI; Dorothy, Grand Rapids, MN; Kathy, Duluth, MN: Brother in law Ronnie Forneris, Grand Rapids, MN; Son: Carl Jr (Mary) Burke, VA; Daughters, Susan Plath, Mira Gut, Nova Scotia; Wendy Whitaker (Scott) Shelbyville, KY; Dori Armstrong (Rich) Owatonna, MN; Nancy Plath, Minneapolis, MN: Eight grandchildren (Holly, Rita, Will, Bryce, Olivia, Paige, Quinn & Devan) and Five great grandchildren (Alex, Stella, Emily, Henry and Evan) Her divided ashes from the Cremation Society of MN will be interned with her husband in Markville Cemetery, MN and her parents, at Hazelwood Cemetery, Blackberry, MN. There will be a 12:00 October 14th grave side service in Blackberry, after which, all are invited to a celebration of Alice’s life luncheon at the Timberlake lodge in Grand Rapids MN.
