Obituary of Catherine Leona Borka

Catherine Leona Borka, 87, of Two Harbors, MN, formally of Cologne, MN, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors with her daughter Linda by her side. Cathy was born on December 17, 1930 in St. Paul, MN, to Cora and Victor Rowe. Cathy was born in St Paul and was raised in Vadnais Heights, MN, where she met and married Harry Olson and they had 6 children together. Years later she married Joe Vadnais and they had 3 children. In the 70’s Cathy and her daughter Linda moved to Grand Marais, MN, where she and married Reggie Smith. After losing Reggie she married the love her life, Glenn Borka. They spent many long years together traveling the country and working on their farm. Cathy enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and her favorite hobby was quilting. She made quilts for all of her children and “Zubbas” for the grandchildren and loved spending time with her family and friends. Cathy was proceeded in death by her parents, Cora and Victor, her husband Glenn, son David, and daughters Rona and Susie and many sisters and brothers. Cathy is survived by her children, Sandy, Warren (aka Chip), Kim, Kathy, Ron, Linda, her step-children, Bob, Cindy, Steve, Randy, Roger and Rick, and many grandchildren and great-great children. A private service will be held on March 26th for the family at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne, Minnesota.
