Obituary of Paul Oliver Sand

Sand, Paul Oliver 12/3/35 - 11/9/14 Preceded in death by parents Alyce and Arthur Sand of Wendell, MN; daughter Kristi. Survived by Karla Sand, son Trygve Sand and wife Heather and grandchildren Rebecca Taylor, Haakon, Kaden, Brynlyn and sister Sylvia Schmidt and many nieces and nephews. Paul attended a one room school house. Attended Elbow Lake HS, U of North Dakota; Mankato State U, U of MN, U of Oslo, Norway, American U; worked with U.S. Forestry Service in Idaho. U.S. Navy four years in the Korean War. Paul retired as Ex Dir of Natl Conference of Christians and Jews a human rights organization. Paul taught Political Science at Ramey SAC AFB in Puerto Rico; U of Maryland; Alexander Ramsey HS; The American School of The Hague; and Anoka CC, Normandale CC. Paul retired as Ex Director of National Conference of Christians and Jews. Paul organized programs including the Model United Nations in The Hague that is still a program in the HS and diplomatic community. Paul was awarded Teacher of the Year at both HSs. Paul was both an international/US HS basketball referee. Paul was an ardent traveler and observer of people. He wrote many guest editorials on subjects that are still debated today. Paul will be interred at Fort Snelling. Visitation at Mpls Cremation Society, 4343 Nicollet Ave So, Mpls, Friday, 11/14/20, 4-6 pm.
