Obituary of Gwendolyn Lorraine Remus
Gwen "Lorraine" Remus, of Red Wing, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, at St. Brigid's Skilled Nursing Facility, following a long battle with a variety of medical conditions.
Lorraine was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Swanson of Red Wing.
She worked at the Red Wing Pottery Salesroom, both in the office and as a painter. She was also a waitress at Nybo's and held a variety of clerical positions.
In 1954, she married Dale Remus at Christ Episcopal Church in Red Wing and shortly after moved to River Falls, Wis. They had two daughters and one son. Lorraine and Dale moved back to Red Wing in 1994.
Lorraine enjoyed being an active member of the Order of Eastern Star in Wisconsin and a longtime devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church in Red Wing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; infant daughter, Patti Ann; parents, Clarence and Margaret Swanson; and brother, Donald Swanson.
Survivors include her daughters, Lori Remus of Red Wing and Pennie Remus of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, Bruce of Auburn, Wash.; two grandsons; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Christ Episcopal Church from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24. A vigil service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Her funeral will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
The interment will be held at a later date in the Spring.
