Obituary of James Eugene Braatz

Braatz, James Eugene age 88, of St. Croix Falls, WI, author and historian, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2014, in the presence of family and friends. Preceded in death by wife, Rosemarie Vezina (Gawlitta) Braatz; parents Robert and Mertie Braatz; and brother, Robert Braatz, Jr. Survived by sister, Geraldine Paczkowski (Mike); son, Damian Braatz (Dave); daughter, Myrtia Greffin (Bill); and step children, Liesel Virchow (Jeff), Martin Vezina (Carrie), Richard Vezina (Susan), and Bill Vezina (Sue); as well as many grandchildren. The family extends their gratitude to Myrna Westen, for the care and friendship she provided to both Jim and Rose for many years. Jim was born in Fond du Lac, WI on September 19, 1926, and grew up in Jamestown ND. He joined the Navy in 1942, and his travels, both in and out of the military, took him all over the world. He loved animals and provided a warm home for many strays. Memorials preferred to St. Croix Falls Historical Society or your local animal humane society.
