Obituary of Robert Tyler

Bob Tyler passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, March 29, 2018. He was born on March 13, 1938 in Detroit, MI and has lived in Minneapolis for 48 years. Among many accomplishments, he held a master’s degree in physics and he worked on the Apollo Mission for Lockheed Electronics in the late 60’s. He retired from the State of Minnesota after 26 years of service. Bob enjoyed his years in Minnesota with his wife Peg, following Gopher women’s sports and the Minnesota Lynx. His other pastimes included spending time with family, watching his granddaughter participate in her athletics, and rollerblading on the Greenway. He was an avid reader and frequented Minneapolis libraries. Survived by wife of 52 years, Peg; son, Stephen (Melanie); daughters, Karen and Tracy (Brenda Shores); granddaughter, Allyson; sister, Lynn Dransfield; and many nieces and nephews, as well as a vast community of friends across the many areas of his life. Memorials are preferred to the Patty Berg Fund for Women’s Sports at the University of Minnesota, or a charity of your choice. Visitation is Monday, April 2, 2018, 4:30-pm – 7:30pm with a service at 5:30pm at the Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55409.
