Alice Gafner

Obituary of Alice M. Gafner

Alice M. (Paradise) Gafner, 88, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, December 18, 2014, surrounded by her loving family members. Alice was born August 17, 1926, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Napoleon and Fern Paradise. Her husband Albert’s job transfer brought them to Duluth where she spent her remaining years. She was a stay-at-home mom, who was always willing to volunteer, whether it be the PTA, the school carnival or taking charge of cooking for special events at the local Moose Club. One thing you could always count on in her home was there being room for an extra plate at the table when friends stopped by unexpectedly and she was quick to bring out the dominoes. Alice had boundless energy and a zest for doing anything on the spur of the moment. A loving wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Gafner and her sons, Terry and Steven. She is survived by her children, Carol (Ron) Rilling, Connie (Dennis) Krippner, Randy (Nikki) Gafner, Linda (Todd Johnson) Gafner and Debbie (Joe Pallansch) Kriske; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Marge) Paradise, DeWayne (Connie) Paradise, June Havel and Ruby (Jerry) Frolick; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alice will always be remembered for the endless love and devotion she had for her family and for the many wonderful friendships she made throughout her life. She touched many hearts who will never forget how very special she was. The family would like to thank Essentia In-Home Hospice Care for all their loving care and support. Gathering of family and friends from 9am until the 10am memorial service Saturday, January 17th at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., 218-624-5200
