Obituary of Stanford Norman Malmquist

Stanford Norman Malmquist, 85, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at his home. Stanford was born in Duluth, Minnesota on December 30, 1928 to Knute and Margreta (Peterson) Malmquist. He was a long time employee of US Steel and retired in 1979. Stan was an active outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin on Island Lake where he waterskied into his 70’s. Stan was an active member of Sonshiners Club at Duluth Gospel Tabernacle Church. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends and will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson Jamie; brother Leonard; and sister Elly. Stanford is survived by his wife Doris of 66 years; children, Stanley (Sandra), David, Norman (Doreen), Susie (Bart) Haugen; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Ruth (Ed) Moliter as well as many extended family members and friends. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 am until the 11 am memorial service on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Duluth Gospel Tabernacle Church 1515 West Superior Street, Duluth, MN.
