Obituary of Maxine Lorraine Brekke

Brekke, Maxine Lorraine (Charlson) age 93 passed peacefully away on December 27, 2014 at her residence at Kingsway Retirement Home. She was born on January 6, 1921 in the small town of Kenyon, MN. She was the beloved wife of her one and only love of 66 years, the late Robert Milton Brekke, also of Kenyon and whom she met in the 1st grade. She was the loving and devoted mother of six children. She was the oldest daughter of the late Martha and Adolph Charlson and big sister to Avonne Marvin and the late Donna Hanscom and Dorothy Wilson Black. She was the loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her children and her family were her passion and delight. She was a dedicated supporter and advocate of the Al Anon organization. She started many of the first groups in the different areas that she resided. She worked outside of the home at Honeywell and Control Data for many years until her retirement at which time she and Robert moved back to Kenyon and into her childhood home. She is survived by her children Michael (Terry) Brekke of Atlanta, Georgia, Andrew (Judy) Brekke of Satellite Beach, Fla., Ann Brekke Allman of New Orleans, Louisiana, Barbara (Tom) Kocka of Chaska, Minnesota, Cindy Brekke of Denver, Colorado and Tom (Carol) Brekke of Duluth, Minnesota. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Laura Brekke, Robby (Tamara) Brekke, Justin Allman, Jessica (Greg) Guarisco, Jared Kocka, Jenna (Brian) Goetze, Alexandra Sisselman, Andrew Sisselman, Thomas Brekke, Kelsey Brekke, and Eric Brekke, great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Annistyn, Sydney and Odin, and numerous loving nieces and nephews and other family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed by many. Funeral services will be January 10th, 2015 at 12 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kenyon, MN. Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. and light lunch will follow the service. Family and friends are invited to attend.
