Obituary of Carol Scott O’Brien

O'Brien, Carol Scott Age 72, of Bloomington, MN passed away January 1, 2015 with her husband and children at her side. She was born in Minneapolis on August 1, 1942 to Wilbur and Agnes Hannay. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School and earned her LPN degree from Glenwood Hills Hospital School of Practical Nursing. Carol married Donald F. Scott on December 30, 1967. They raised their children in Fargo and Carol stayed very active in the community. Carol married Michael D. O'Brien on January 6, 2001. Carol was co-founder of the Grief and Loss Support Group and the Widow or Widowers Social Group in Fargo. She was a member of the Eaglets, Catholic Daughters, NDSU Women's Club, MS Walk Committee and the Fargo Rotary. She was an Ambassador of the Fargo-Moorhead Chamber, member of Who's Who of Nursing, a Hospice volunteer in Bloomington among other groups that she actively participated in. Carol was preceded in death by her first husband Donald, her daughter Pamela Kay Scott, her parents Wilbur and Agnes, and her brother Ronny. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Christine (David) Minke, David (Holly) Scott; her stepchildren, Sean (Grete) O'Brien, Tim (Laura) O'Brien and Molly O'Brien; her siblings, Darlene (Tom) Johnston, Kenny (Patty) Hannay, Eddie (Barbie) Hannay; her grandchildren, Bayley and Riley Scott, Sarah and Hannah Minke; her step-grandchildren, Lily and Danny O'Brien. A visitation will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Bloomington, MN from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday, January 5 with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 6 at St. Bonaventure with visitation starting at 10:00 am. There will be a luncheon following the mass. On Friday, January 9, there will be a memorial service at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Fargo, ND in the Magnificent Chapel at 6:30 pm, followed by a social. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Donald F. Scott Memorial Scholarship at NDSU are appreciated: Donald F.
