Obituary of Marilyn Jean Borich

Marilyn Jean (Kresal) Borich, age 71, passed away on September 1st, 2018 at Essentia Health St Mary's with her son and mother by her side. She was born on November 26th, 1946 in Natchez, MS to Ellwood and Barbara (Cleveland) Kresal. Marilyn spent her early childhood there before moving to Duluth, MN. She was a graduate of Duluth East and then of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She married Brian Borich on April, 16th, 1977 in New Orleans, LA spending the rest of her life with him in the same home in Duluth. She spent her career serving St Louis County primarily as a case worker where she worked as a respected and tireless protector of children and families. Marilyn enjoyed road trips with her husband and son managing to visit all 50 states and multiple countries. She loved soccer and supporting her favorite club, Manchester United. Most importantly, Marilyn was deeply loved and cherished her close friends and family taking immense pleasure in their interests and activities. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, LW 'Bud' Cleveland and Myrtle Sponnick; father, and brother, Robert Kresal. Marilyn is survived by her mother; uncle, Robert (Lois) Cleveland; brother, Richard (Linda) Kresal; son, Michael (Jessica) Borich; 'the kids', Kevin, Heather and Matt (Mona) Borich; Kyle (Robbin) Tuominen and numerous extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth, MN, 55807 on September 14th, 2018 from 3 to 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marilyn's name to the American Cancer Society or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Essentia Health St Mary's, especially the staff on the Oncology/Palliative Care Unit. Marilyn will be remembered as grace personified and deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
