Obituary of Lynn Bishop

Lynn (Downs) Bishop, 75, lifelong resident of the Duluth area passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday, Janary 12th 2015, while in St. Luke's Hospital Hospice. She was born March 22, 1939 in Duluth to Dewey and Elvira Downs. Lynn was a 1957 graduate of Denfeld High School and married Darwin L. Bishop. Lynn was the first female to obtain and keep a Minnesota Opticians License. She was a Minnesota Woman of the Year for her social work with Bishop Group Homes for boys and girls. Lynn was preceded in death by her daughter Terra Bishop Lind; her parents; brothers, Dewey A., Norman H., and Burrell D.; and a sister, Barbara Downs Stauber. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Darwin; sons, Guy (Kristi) and Dean (Kim) all of Midway Township; four grandchildren, Bradley, Kassandra, Todd "T.J." and Teran; brothers, M. George (Barbara) Downs and John B. (Beverly) Downs all of Duluth and sister, Gayle (John) Peterson of Pinehurst, N.C.; former brother-in-law, Todd Lind of Barnum; and very many nieces, newphews and loving friends. The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Luke's ER and Hospice for their excellent care of Lynn.
