Obituary of Marty Andrew Stickney

Andy passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, at the age of 49 following a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 29, 1965, in Minneapolis to Carol (Jandro) Howard. He grew up in north Minneapolis and attended North High School. Andy always loved the food service industry and spent the last 20 years as a server/manager at the 8th Street Grill in downtown Minneapolis. Andy was preceded in death by his mother and his sister, Denise (Stickney) McDonough. He is survived by his longtime partner, Lawrence Stokes of Minneapolis; his sister Kathy (Nat) Natoli; three brothers, Patrick (Kathy) Stickney, Richard (Tina) Stickney, and Shang Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Andy was also loved and will be missed by a multitude of friends, coworkers and loyal customers. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave. So. Following this gathering, a celebration of Andy’s life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the 8th Street Grill, 800 Marquette Ave., Mpls. Larry would like to especially thank the dedicated caregivers at the University of Minnesota-Fairview Hospital and the wonderful staff at Masonic Cancer Clinic for their compassionate, tireless care and loving support for Marty (Andy) these last three years. You are the best.
