Obituary of Dennis Edward Wegner
Dennis E. Wegner, 71, of Edina, Minn., died in his home on Jan. 25, 2015, from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a very rare neurological disorder. Denny was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Bay City, to parents Doris and Rudolph Wegner. He grew up on the family farm in southern Midland County, near the town of LaPorte. He attended the one-room Bartlett School through eighth grade, graduated Midland High School, attended the University of North Dakota, and graduated Bemidji State University (Minn.) with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education technology.
Denny was an upper-grade elementary school teacher for 35 years in Minnesota. After retiring in 2001, Denny devoted the rest of his life to his family and his collection of John Deere tractors, including the two tractors used on his boyhood farm.
Denny is survived by his wife, Janet McLaughlin; sons, Gant and Gannon (Tina); brother, Gary (Jane); and nieces, Beth and Ellen.
