Obituary of William A Patrick

William A. Patrick, age 78, lifelong resident of Duluth passed away peacefully Monday, January 26, 2015 while at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born February 26, 1939 in Duluth, MN. Will was a graduate of Denfeld High School and the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He taught Geometry at Hermantown High School and alongside his teaching, worked as a conductor for D.M.& I.R. Railroad, retiring in 2000. He was also very active in his unions. Will was always involved in sports and was an avid golfer. He was a collector of cars, antiques and enjoyed hunting for golf balls. Will was a very kind, generous person and made friends wherever he went. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sy and Gladys Patrick. Will is survived by: son Ryan (Kathleen) Patrick, and granddaughter, Rylee of Duluth; daughters Dena Jones of Colorado and Kari Sachs of Minneapolis: and sister, Margie Fenney of Texas, brothers, Charlie (Bonnie) Patrick of Spooner and Jim (Bev) Patrick of Superior; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. He is also survived by his former wife, Gale Patrick. The family extends a special thank you to Nita Johnson along with everyone else who helped provide love and care of Will. Gathering of family and friends from 2pm until the 3pm memorial service Friday, January 30th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., 218-624-5200. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The family encourages everyone to either bring written memories of Will to the service or add comments to online guestbook.
