Obituary of Lawrence Thomas ‘Larry’ Magel

Magel, Lawrence Thomas Sr. "Larry" Born February 10, 1941, Minneapolis, MN. Entered into eternal sleep peace-fully on the 26th of January 2015 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's at the VA Medical Center, St. Cloud, MN. Larry graduated from North High School Minneapolis, MN. He joined the United States Army March 1958 and served honorably until May 1968 with a discharge rank of Sergeant (E-5). During his military service he spent over 4 years overseas in Panama completing three tours of duty in Viet Nam. He worked at the U.S. Post Office driving the "big Rigs" and as a Machinist at Wrico Stamping. Larry loved gardening, cribbage, bowling and fishing. Larry was preceded in death by first wife, Sandra; parents, Paul Sr. and Catherine; granddaughter, Jennie; sister, Janet; brothers, Paul Jr, Gerald, John Patrick; sister-in-law, Sandra Kay and brother-in-law Sherman. Larry is survived by second wife, Linda; sister, Barbara (Van); children: Cindy (Bret), Michele (Dale), Julie (Charles), Laura, Lawrence Jr. (Byron), Jason (Michelle) and Audra (Lee); grandchildren: Aaron, Joshua, Seth, and Anna Rose, Clinton, Kelley, Cassandra, Jacob, Jack and great grandson, Elijah and his loving and devoted companion of 14 years Shautze' and many more family, friends and fellow veterans. Funeral Services will be held at St. Cloud VA Medical Center Chapel- Friday, January 30, 2015, 4801 8th Avenue North, St Cloud Minnesota 56303. Visitation 9-10 am with a memorial Service starting at 10 am. Interment following at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Military Honors beginning at 12:45 pm. Memorials preferred to St. Cloud Veteran's Medical Center.
