Obituary of Arnold Sidney Olson
Olson, Arnold Sidney age 96, died peacefully at his home in Eagan on January 26th with his wife of 74 years, Aileen, at his side. He was born in Canada and moved back to Winger, Minnesota at age 7 with his parents. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole & Emma, and his brothers, Morris and Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Aileen and his 6 children, Dr. Stephen (Bonnie), Burnsville, Susan Tufford, Crystal, Craig, Red Wing, MN, Dr. Mark, Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Christopher (Cheryl), Brownsville, TX and Jonathan, Mpls. He had 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. All of his sons graduated from the U of M and his daughter became an RN. He was very proud of his children but always deferred any credit for their accomplishments to his wife, Aileen. Arnold was a wounded and decorated Veteran of WWII. He worked as a Manager for Midland Oil Co in Hallock, MN for most of his adult life. He was an avid fisherman and gifted woodworker whose skills ranged from furniture making to turning of complicated wooden bowls and novelty gadgets. He always signed his works and they are treasured by friends and family. Funeral arrangements pending.
