Obituary of Orville Earl Fisher

After a brave and courageous battle with Melanoma, Orville Earl “Chip” Fisher, 71, entered into eternal life at his home in Greenwood, MN on Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was surrounded by his family, overlooking beautiful Lake Minnetonka. Even though cancer got the best of him, he undoubtedly got the best of life. He left a lasting impression with everyone he met and will be profoundly missed by many. Chip was greeted in heaven by his son Drew and parents Orville Sr. and Mary Elaine. He will forever be in the hearts of his wife, Katie; children, Kelly Eiss (Jon), Stephanie O’Dell (Chris), Angie Lindberg (Matt), Orville “Matt” (Lindsey), Patrick McGlynn and Charlie McGlynn; grandchildren, Drew, Fisher, Elijah, Finnegan, Emme, George, Ainsley and Kyli; siblings, Sally Rice, Dave (Barb), Laurie Huck (Chris); many nieces and nephews. Chip graduated from high school at Duluth Cathedral and earned his BA and JD from the University of Minnesota. He was a seasoned businessman beginning his career at National Car Rental and subsequently acquired and owned 10 Dollar Rent-A-Car businesses. He was also a top executive at Jostens for over 25 years before establishing his prominent business presence as the heart of Greene Holcomb Fisher LLC over the past 17 years. Chip had a genuine ability to connect with people and authentic passion for building meaningful relationships. He was charismatic and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor that will certainly live on long after his death. He was extremely adventurous and loved to travel. He had an enormous heart and was passionate about giving back to various charities. But more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He had boundless and unconditional love for his family and friends and his contagious passion for life was felt by all who he encountered. Chip’s celebration of life will begin with a 10am gathering, 11am service and 12pm light luncheon on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Colonial Church, 6200 Colonial Way, Edina (952) 925-2711. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic, Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota and Childhelp or donor’s choice.
