Obituary of Ruth K. Bush Anvid Blom

Ruth K. Bush Anvid Blom, 97, died Feb. 5, 2015 in St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Duluth, on Dec. 21, 1917 to Arthur Vernon and Ida Ruth (Seeley) Bush. She graduated in 1936 from Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids, Minnesota from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, in 1941 with a degree in Nursing Education and with a degree as a Registered Nurse. Professionally, Ruth had many and varied nursing positions. She retired in 1979 as Nursing Instructor at St. Luke's School of Nursing. Ruth was active in many community organizations and volunteering over the years. As Ruth was fond of saying, "The high point of her days now is any contact with her wonderful grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She married Harold E. Anvid Feb. 28, 1942. They were blessed with two sons, Roger and Raymond. She was widowed in 1966 with Harold's passing. Ruth married Hans H. Blom in 1969 and was blessed again with her step-children Betsy, Peter, Marvin and Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Arthur William Bush; husbands Harold E. Anvid and Hans H. Blom; son Roger H. Anvid; and granddaughter Jaimie Jo Anvid. Ruth is survived by her son Raymond W. (Mary Jo) Anvid; step-children Betsy (Peter) Ringhofer, Peter (Sandy) Blom, Marvin Blom, and Paul Blom; 16 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. Ruth will be very much missed by her family and friends. Her family admired her immensely and noted that in her life time she not only survived but thrived. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 in St. Ann's Chapel. At Ruth's bequest, no flowers or memorials.
