Obituary of Gary D. McDonald
Gary D. McDonald, 68, of Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Gary was born on November 17, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK. He served in the U.S. Army in Kentucky from 1968-1970 in MHCD before receiving his Master’s Degree in Social Work. He married Deborah Josephson and moved to the Iron Range.
Gary retired from St. Louis County in 2006 after a long career as a social worker in Children and Family Services. He enjoyed hiking, reading, and coffee with friends. Gary will be missed for his smile, wit, humor, kindness, generosity, patience, intellect, love, and “Thoughts for Tomorrow.”
Gary is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Jones of Muskogee, OK; sister, Paula (Burr) Myers of Wainwright, OK; children, Liana (Fred) Seuvaai of Duluth, MN and Ian (Molly) McDonald of Plainview, MN; and many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. He is preceded in death by his father, JP “Cotton” Jones.
