Obituary of Geraldine Oeltjenbruns

Geraldine “Gerry” Oeltjenbruns, 89, passed away on February 18, 2015, at the Northfield Retirement Community. Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM March 28, 2015, at the Northfield Retirement Community Chapel, 900 Cannon Valley Drive, Northfield, MN. Interment at the Owatonna Memorial Gardens at a later date. Gerry was born on January 27, 1926, in Owatonna to Ted and Elsie (Reick) Lembke. She was united in marriage to Milton Oeltjenbruns on September 19, 1945. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Ivy (Lavern) Hoffman, brother Eddie, two son-in-laws: Tom Carey and Bob Harris; and her husband Milton. She is survived by her daughters: Linda Harris and Diane Oeltjenbruns, both of Brainerd; and Barb (Duane) Snesrud of Farmington; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. In addition sister in law Lucy Lembke of Burnsville, Viola Pittman and Lois Oeltjenbruns both of Owatonna, Arline Shal of Longmont, Colorado, brother and sister in laws Alton and Marcella Tuttle of Medford and Lester and Betty Oeltjenbruns of Owatonna. Many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends survive her. Gerry was an avid walker, loved flowers and watching and feeding the birds. Her chair in her Northfield apartment was positioned exactly right to ensure the best view of the bird feeders outside her window. Gerry lived the last six years in Parkview East apartments at the Northfield Retirement Community. We are so grateful to the entire staff there for the patience shown, crafts made, love, and pastoral care given to Mom during those years.
