Obituary of James Edward Smith

James Edward Smith, age 91, of Friendship Village, Bloomington, passed away on February 28, 2015. Preceded in death by loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; infant son, Thomas and brother, Robert. Attended public schools in Litchfield and Mpls. Jim Last attended the Univ. of Minnesota. He Started employment with Equifax of Atlanta, GA in Sept. 1945 as a field representative in Mpls and last held the position of Director of Employment Services for the Northern Division. He took early retirement in Feb. 1982 at age 58. Jim said the best part of his employment with Equifax was that he met Marilyn there; they were married on May 22, 1948. Survived by sons, Greg (Kathy) and Gary (Shelley); daughter, Patti (Mark) Raas; grandchildren: Lindsay, Hillary, Brian, Lisa, Michael, Kelli and Abby; 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many great friends. Memorial service at 11 am on Sat. March 7, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, 8600 E. Bush Lake Rd., Bloomington. Visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Peace Lutheran Church. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Fairview Hospice and the caring staff of Friendship Village.
