Obituary of Martha Elizabeth Amling

Martha Elizabeth Amling passed away peacefully on April 9, 2018 at Sunnyside nursing home in Cloquet, MN. She was 92 years old. Martha was born April 3, 1926 in San Diego, California to Edward Kaers and Lena (Chattin) Kaers. The Depression and World War II were difficult times where Martha learned to be frugal, self-reliant, and confident. Martha was married three times in 1942, 1950, and 1959. Martha and Harold Amling had a long and happy life together until his passing in 1998. Then Martha moved to Duluth, MN to be near her daughter Sharon. Martha loved playing cards, going to movies, reading, knitting and crocheting. Martha also enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital and the Duluth Aquarium. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Warner Amling and son-in-law John Chiarenza. Martha is survived by her daughters Kathi Frances Chiarenza (John), Lisa Anne Long (Mike), and Sharon Amling Belanger (Gregory); grandchildren Seanna, Johnny, Joshua, Jason, Joel, Justin, Dennis, and Denise; and great grandchildren Sean, Jake, Johnny, Maddison, Jaxsen, Aubree, and Ayverie.
