Obituary of John Edward Kessler
John Edward Kessler, 83, lifelong resident of Duluth, Minn., passed away peacefully on March 8, 2015.
John was born on Sept. 15, 1931 to Freda and Harry Kessler. He was a graduate of Duluth Cathedral High School and St. John's University, Collegeville, Minn., and a proud veteran of the US Army.
John worked in the banking and computer industries and eventually applied these skills to running The Corner Cupboard Gift Shop on the North Shore with his wife Marilynn. His many interests included deer hunting, sailing, building, listening to opera and making "Jim's famous pancakes."
John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marilynn Hauer Kessler.
John is survived by his children Kristin (Guy) de Galard, Mary Beth (Erick) Kjolhaug, Greg (Sally) Kessler, and Andrea (Charlie) Snow; stepchildren Keith (Jillayne) Meyer, Curtis (Cindy) Meyer, and Marjorie (Timothy) Gottwalt; 16 grandchildren; and sister Judy Stephenson.
A celebration of John's life will be held in early June in Duluth. Private interment at Forest Hill Cemetery. His family requests that memorials be directed to the Benedictine Health Center Foundation: Westwood Fund, 935 Kenwood Ave., Duluth MN 55811. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
