Obituary of Warren Alfred William Boman

Warren "Papa" Alfred William Boman, 94, of Hermantown, Minn., passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Warren served in the Navy during World War II, on the U.S.S. McConnell in the Pacific. After the war he married Bette V. Johnston. They moved to Hermantown where they raised three daughters and spent the rest of their lives. Warren worked for DM&IR as a fireman and repaired televisions for Master Radio and T.V. He loved animals, especially the horses he raised and his dog "Teddy," who was one of his favorite companions. Warren and Bette loved to fish, camp and be with their grandchildren. He was the anchor of his family and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bette Vivian Boman; his daughter Barbara Jo (Boman) Sundvick, who died in 1968 of cancer; and his parents Herman and Ebba (Bogenholm) Boman. He is survived by his daughters Sue (Don) Hanson and Beth (Steve) Freeman; grandchildren Cheryl Diedrich, Ryan (Kim) Hanson, Chris (Shelly) Freeman and Kyle (Hillarie) Freeman; great-grandchildren Sam Diedrich, Christa Diedrich, Tommy Diedrich, Carter Hanson, Taylor Hanson, Emma Freeman, River Freeman, Derek Hanson, Rynn Freeman and Kylee Freeman; and his brother Herman "Bud" (Joyce) Boman. Warren was loved by his family, friends and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and we were blessed to have him for 94 years. His family would like to thank the loving, amazing staff of Viewcrest Health Care Center and St. Luke's Hospital for their care of Warren. They are truly remarkable.
