Obituary of James Kirk Olson

James Kirk Olson, 47 of Superior Wisconsin, departed this life on his journey for peace Sunday September 2, 2018. Jim was born in Virginia, Minnesota on December 31st, 1970, the youngest of three, to his beloved parents Kirk and Patricia Olson of Superior, Wisconsin. Jimmy has left behind his two sisters, Renee Halverson (Kent Halverson) of Duluth, Minnesota; and Laura Hunter (Barry Hunter) of Superior, Wisconsin to share his love, stories, and hugs with those who loved him. His love created two beautiful daughters, Sage Elizabeth Olson and Ellie James Olson of Superior Wisconsin. He saved a special place in his heart for stepson Nate Olson, while never forgetting the good times with step children Addy Olson and Dain Olson. Uncle Jimmy is loved and remembered by his niece Morgan Morris and nephews Weston and Mason Morris. Jim was born a true Iron Ranger with hockey stick in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. In Babbitt, Minnesota he made lifelong special friendships. Jim moved to West Warwick, Rhode Island in 1984. He continued his high school hockey career with a blistering slapshot. He graduated from West Warwick High School in June of 1989. His dream to hold a position with law enforcement began in Rhode Island serving on the West Warwick Reserve Police Department as a West Warwick Constable. Returning to the Midwest he attained his dream, graduating from the Wisconsin Police Academy. He served briefly with the Dane County Sheriff department. James was badged and sworn in September of 1999. He proudly served and protected the people of Superior as a city police officer for 15 years until his retirement January of 2015. Respect and thank his brothers in blue in remembrance of him. Forever he will be loved by is dear friends and respected by his comrades. In closing this tribute, this gentle giant left behind his very loved poodles, Fisher and Gracie. His pups brought him peace and unconditional love. Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm, September 16th, 2018 at the Billings Civic Center, 3903 N. 18th Street, Superior, Wisconsin 54880.
