Obituary of Richard A. Sjolund
SJOLUND, Richard A., age 81, of Andover (formerly of Blaine, MN; Richfield, MN; Portland, OR and Duluth, MN) went home to Jesus on March 26, 2015. In his youth, Dick was on the softball, track and golf teams. A lifelong golfer, he pursued the sport with passion from his youth into his later years. Over the past decade or so he enjoyed getting together to socialize at bowling outings and meals with family, friends and neighbors. Dick retired from the U of M as the Manager of the Audio Visual Resources Department, after 23 years of service. Preceded in death by wife, Carol; parents, Arthur and Alvilda; brother, Art; sisters, Gloria Mitchell and Nancy Donahue. He will be deeply missed by his children, Laura (Marty) Shrake, Andrew Sjolund; granddaughter, Abigail Sjolund; sister, Pat Carls; many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends. Celebration of Life 2 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Living Word Christian Center, 9201 75th Ave. N., Brooklyn Park (763-315-7000), luncheon to follow service with visitation at church 1 hour before. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Assembly #4, 7601 34th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55450 (612-726-1127) at 10:30 am, Friday, April 3, 2015 (arrive ½ hour early).
