Obituary of Emma Jane Eskelson

Eskelson, Emma Jane, age 72, died March 29, 2015. Born in Staples, MN. Emma lived in St. Cloud area for many years and in Mpls. for the last 25. She was devoted to children as an elementary teacher for 28 years in Central MN and to adults as a chemical dependency counselor in the metro area for 20 years. Emma received her B.A. in Elementary Education form the College of St. Benedict and her Chemical Dependency Certification at St. Catherine’s University. Emma and Jan enjoyed trips to Provincetown, Cape Cod, and Dancing Winds Goat Farm. Emma loved spending time with her dogs, taking them for long walks and visiting with neighbors in her So. Mpls. neighborhood. She will be greeted in heaven by her parents, Ione and Edward; brother, Robert. Emma will be forever missed by her life partner of 30 years, Jan Salzer, who couldn’t have asked for a better partner. She will be missed for her kindness, gentleness, and love for family, friends, and those she served. Also survived by, Siblings, Cynthia (Allen) Meyer, Thomas (Leslie), Theresa Scott, Stephen (Marlene), and Jan’s siblings, Catherine (Robert) Broady, Elizabeth (Darryl) Bellin, Ann (Kevin) Bellin, Michael (Marcy), and Paul (Ann); many nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved dog, Lilly. A Celebration of Emma’s Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at Spirit of Stephen’s Catholic Community, 2201 1st Ave. S., Mpls., MN 55404. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment at St. Benedict’s Monastery Chapel, St. Joseph, MN at 4pm on April 13th, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer’s research, or a charity that serves women and children.
