Obituary of Harold Baker

Harold Baker passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 Harold Baker was born on November 25, 1920 in Duluth, MN. He was the first of 7 children born to Zelma and Ralph Baker. He attended school in Duluth and joined the Navy in 1940. He was on the USS Honolulu at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed and was one of the last Pearl Harbor survivors in Duluth. He remained in the Navy until 1946 and served in many naval battles in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Audrey in 1946 and they were married for 68 years. He operated Whitemarsh Farm in Gnesen Township where he raised mink, cattle and quarter horses. In 1989 they retired to Sebring, Fl where they spent many happy years. He enjoyed swimming, gardening, and watching the news. Wife, Audrey, passed away on March 23rd, 2015. He is survived by daughter, Jeanne Ahlin (Denny) of Duluth and son, Lynn Baker, of St. Cloud, FL; brother William Baker, sister Patricia Stines ; grand-children Jenna Carter, Adrienne Baker, Christopher Baker and several great-grand-children. Many thanks to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Edgewood Vista Memory Care and Essentia Hospice for their care and compassion. A joint service for both Audrey and Harold will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6th at the Forest Hill Cemetery Chapel with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Memorials to Essentia Hospice in lieu of flowers.Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of MN with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
