Obituary of Duane Maurice Morsette

Duane “Dewey” Maurice Morsette age 74, of Two Harbors, passed on Friday, April 3, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital-Hospice in Duluth. He was born on June 13, 1940 to Leonard and Gertrude Morsette in Two Harbors where upon graduating from Two Harbors High School, he volunteered for the U.S. Navy. He served as a Boatswains Mate aboard the U.S.S. Navasota. In June of 1962, he married his love and lifelong partner of 52 years, Diane Rembis. They set roots in his hometown of Two Harbors and raised their children at their home in Silver Creek. Dewey was employed at Reserve (Cyprus/Northshore) Mining until his retirement in 2003. Dewey enjoyed travel and motorhome vacations with his wife and family and was an avid fisherman. Adventures included a pilgrimage to his ancestral homeland in France, numerous motorhome trips to the western states and vacations in the Hawaiian Islands. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; parents; and a grandson, Jacob. Dewey is survived by his children, Daniel Morsette, Donald (Julie) Morsette, Dell (Brian) Staggs and Amy Carlson; brothers, Brian Morsette, Kevin (Karen) Morsette and sister, Diane (Ross) LeRoy’ grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Zachary and Amber; three great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the nurturing and caring staff of Eccumen Care Center and St. Luke’s Hospice. Gathering of family and friends from 10am until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 7th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 227 Third St., Two Harbors. Inurnment will be at Silver Creek Cemetery, by the family, on June 30th, (their 53rd Anniversary). Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, 218-624-5200.
